Industry Annual Meeting Successfully Held
From June 28th to 29th, the 2021 National Flame Retardant Academic/Industry Annual Meeting was held in Xuchang, attracting nearly 500 guests from the national flame retardant industry. Attendees and speakers included: Academician Wang Yuzhong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Hu Qianlin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation; Yuan Zhimin, Director of the Flame Retardant Materials Professional Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation; Zhou Zhengmao, Secretary-General; Yang Rongjie, Director of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Flame Retardant Materials; Li Bin, President of Northeast Forestry University; and Xie Zhaoxu, Director of the China Certification Center. The meeting received strong support from the local government, with the participation of Mayor Shi Genzhi, Deputy Mayor Zhao Shuhong, and Zheng Zhi, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice President of Xuchang University.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhao Shuhong, Deputy Mayor of Xuchang. Mayor Shi Genzhi delivered the opening address, extending a warm welcome to the guests and introducing the economic and social development of Xuchang.
Following this, Hu Qianlin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Petrochemical Federation, reported on the economic operation of the petrochemical industry from January to April, introduced the strategic priorities of the petroleum and chemical industry's 14th Five-Year Plan, and outlined key tasks for the flame retardant industry in the near future.
Yuan Zhimin, Director of the Flame Retardant Professional Committee of the Petrochemical Federation, analyzed the current global development of the flame retardant industry in his address. He suggested that flame retardant professionals actively participate in the formulation of domestic and international fire safety regulations and flame retardant standards, strengthen industry-academia-research cooperation to promote technological innovation, and enhance the international competitiveness of China's flame retardant products.
Finally, the newly established Flame Retardant Materials Research Center of Beijing Institute of Technology signed cooperation framework agreements with the Weidu District Government of Xuchang City, the China Certification Center, the Henan Branch of AVIC Construction Group, and Xuchang University.
Academician Wang Yuzhong's excellent academic report opened the academic exchange session. Thirty-three representatives, including Li Bin, President of Northeast Forestry University, and Professor Hu Yuan of the University of Science and Technology of China, delivered academic reports detailing the recent progress of flame retardant research in their respective units. During the two-day efficient and compact meeting, participants engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges on research progress, regulations and standards, and the demand for flame retardant materials in key areas of the industry.
On the afternoon of the 29th, Secretary-General Zhou Zhengmao presented awards to the winners of the graduate student excellent paper award and the flame retardant science popularization award. Chang Jianghui, Deputy District Head of Weidu District, presided over the closing ceremony and announced the successful conclusion of the flame retardant conference. The conference had nearly 500 on-site attendees and nearly 3,000 online participants, demonstrating the rapid development of the flame retardant industry against the backdrop of increasingly refined safety regulations and the growing influence of the annual meeting and the flame retardant professional committee. 。
